When the tweezers won't work, let someting from the garden to help you with that splinter.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • a small piece of onion
  • bandage, or tape
Step1
Place a small piece of an onion over area of skin that has a splinter lodge in.
Step2
Put bandage, or tape, over the onion.
Step3
Leave the onion over the area where the splinter is for at least an hour.
Step4
After an hour, check to see by removing the onion that the splinter is now embedded in the onion, or at least the splinter came up more so that now it can be easily pulled out.

Tips & Warnings

  • Something in the onion makes the piece of splinter being sucked out, I don't know what it is, but it works.
  • If it doesn't work for you, try it with the onion a bit longer more.
  • If it still doesn't work, then I probably must suggest some medical help.

on 8/30/2007 I used this on my 3 year old son and it worked great! I used a red onion - if that matters and he probably had it on for 1 - 2 hours under a band-aid. The splinter was on the sole of his foot and it would have been hard to get out even if the subject wasn't 3! Great and unusual recommendation - thanks!
