Making a michelada is a great way to add some extra flavor and spice to your beer. This drink is ideal for celebrating Mexican-themed holidays such as Cinco de Mayo, or for enjoying with your favorite Mexican food.
Salt the rim of the glass. There are two ways to do this: you can moisten the rim with water, or you can run a wedge of lime around the rim of the glass and then dip it into a plate of salt.
Step2
Add ice to the glass. 3-4 cubes will do.
Step3
Pour about 3 drops of Tabasco over the ice. Use less if you're sensitive to spice and more if you're a big fan.
Step4
Squeeze the juice of half a lime over the ice and Tabasco.
Step5
Pour your Mexican beer into the glass. Stir concoction lightly.
Step6
Garnish the rim with a sizeable wedge of lime. If desired, squeeze the lime into the drink. Take the first sip and enjoy your michelada!
Tips & Warnings
Modelo Especial is the recommended beer for this drink, but any Mexican beer such as Corona, Tecate, Pacifico or Dos Equis will do.
Serve this drink on Cinco de Mayo to your family and friends.
To prepare a number of micheladas easily, set up an assembly line and then go step by step.
If you're preparing micheladas for a crowd, go easy on the Tabasco since some might find it difficult to deal with the heat. If anyone wants a spicier drink, they can add a couple of drops of Tabasco and stir it in.

Here in Houston Micheladas are popular all the time not just holidays ;) Modelo Especial is by far my favorite beer but may I suggest you try a Sol Michelada. Also, what is a Michelada without a shrimp or oyster (yuck!) in the bottom of the glass. Very nice article, makes me thirsty though!
