Demystifying the search for work at home jobs. It's not hard, you just have to look in the right places.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Resume
  • A Little Courage
  • High Speed Internet
  • A Computer
  • Some Common Sense
Step1
Search your WAHM forums. WAHM = Work At Home Mom. There are a lot of WAHM forums out there, but some really great ones are www.workplacelikehome.com www.wahm.com www.whambuds.com www.moneymakingmommy.com These are just a few, but search out the best forum for you and get advice from people who are already working at home.
Step2
Search job banks for freelance, virtual assistant, and virtual call center jobs. Some of my favorite sources are: www.mommyboss.com www.monster.com www.craigslist.com www.hotjobs.com
Step3
Make yourself aware of potential Scams and Frauds! Educate yourself, a great work at home article by about.com is: http://jobsearch.about.com/od/workfromhome/a/workathome.htm Remember consider the source when looking for articles, and advice. Many less credible jobs have created their own review web sites plugging their products. REMEMBER you NEVER need to pay someone to get a job, including registration fees. Good Luck and Much Success with your work at home career!

on 11/28/2008 Maddy, Iʼm glad to hear that you got an interview with that web designer company, let me know how it goes. Im looking into a few other work at home sites myself, but I want to check them out and see if they are legit before posting. I know we all have had enough of running into the work at home scams, lol. I can't wait to see if I get an interview. Many jobs on there I can do. Thanks.

on 11/19/2008 I agree 100%! Nothing like hearing about a possible job from someone that has been there done that or knows those that have. lol. I myself have joined several work at home sites. There is soo much great info and not enough time in the day to read through it all, lol. Oh and Sandy, I applied for the web designer job in your link and I have an interview next week! Thanks so much for all the help and great advice.

on 11/15/2008 Word of mouth IS the best way to find a legit at home job or even know if a company is a scam company. I joined one of those work at home sites and the people there are sooo friendly and helpful. I'm now waiting on some replies for a few apps I sent out. I'm very hopeful. Thanks again for the wealth of info on this site.

on 11/9/2008 See I've been scammed so many times by at home companies that I don't even try anymore. I've found out that by word of mouth, and other at home workers that have experience with these particular companies, is the best way to go. Nothing like knowing that someone worked for them or that they never got a reply etc.. Everyones experiences will not be the same, maybe they didn't reply to your friend but they will to you. You just never know. However, I've been working from home for 7 years and the art of finding work at home jobs has been cracked for me. Never pay for work, only few companies have you pay for background checks etc... Best of luck. I just started my new job.
