Salaat is a traditional Muslim ritual in which you need to cleanse your body before offering prayers. Here is how to wash before Salaat.

Instructions

Step1
Wash specific parts of your body as per the current norms.
Step2
Clean your hands up to the wrist first and then the elbow.
Step3
Rinse the mouth with water thrice, using only the right hand for it.
Step4
Clean the nose by using the right hand to draw water in.
Step5
Wash your face thoroughly. Move the wet palms on the head, starting from forehead to the neck. Press the wet hands over the back of your neck, too.
Step6
Rub a wet finger of each hand into the holes of both the ears. Keep the thumbs behind the ears.
Step7
Clean your feet thoroughly up to the ankles. Start with the right foot and then the left one.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use only flowing water, if possible, for cleaning your body parts. Natural rain, lake or river water is preferred.
  • Avoid use of contaminated or stored water.
