Tell your child to read out loud all the words or letters he or she has learned at the school. Do this on daily basis.

Encourage your child to read. Look for opportunities to suggest reading instead of television or video games.

Ask the child whether he or she has questions about what is being read--meaning of words, correct pronunciation, or plots and characters.

Make sure that you repeat the words that your child is having problems with. You can do so even during casual talk, play time or meal time.

Read some pages of a book along with your child. This will boost confidence.

Take regular feedback from the teacher. Ask for specific reading lessons where your child needs more practice.

Become a library member and visit frequently. Let you child's curiosity lead the way.

Buy books outside the school course for your child to create more interest in reading.
