Perhaps because most TV shows are filmed in Hollywood and New York, many people may not associate TV with Idaho, but that is, in fact where the television was first concieved. Philo T. Farnsworth, a young farm boy from Rigby, Idaho, with a propensity for electronics, was the first person to demonstrate and patent a working electronic television. Check out the museum honoring Farnsworth and learn about this great inventor.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Plan a trip to Idaho. The great thing about this museum is that it is located off of U.S. Highway 20 on the way to Yellowstone National Park. So you can plan to make a pit stop in Rigby before moving on to the park or other sights in Idaho.
Step2
Go in the summer. Summer is the best time of year to visit Idaho.
Step3
Stop in Rigby to tour the museum that chronicles the life of Philo T. Farnsworth and learn about the history of television.
Step4
Be sure to make a donation to the small museum.
Step5
Check out some of the other sights nearby Rigby, such as the Mountain River Ranch where you can take a hay ride in a horse drawn buckboard. Or relax for some fun in the sun at the Heise Hot Springs.
