Instructions
  1. Step 1

Plan to attend during the off season. Park rangers recommend visiting this monument in spring or fall rather than summer time. There are fewer crowds and the cooler tempature make for a more enjoyable experience.

  2. Step 2

Plan your visit for either early or late in the day, near dawn or dusk. According to park rangers, because of lighting, these are ideal times for optimum viewing of wildlife, vegetation and other features that make the park more beautiful.

  3. Step 3

Get operating hours and seasons online and plan your trip accordingly. The monument is open year round, but winter snow limit accessibility by car from November to April.

  5. Step 5

Drive to the Visitor's Center by taking the Loop. There you can park and pay the nominal entrance fee. Campsites are also available.

  6. Step 6

Enjoy the park and all it has to offer. Be sure to ask the staff questions and get information about the park before venturing out into it. If you know a little bit of the history you are more likely to appreciate the unusual landscape.
