You are ready to take your baby on an outing but you need to make sure that you've packed everything. If you forget to pack just one item, it will most certainly be the one you need most. Be sure you're not forgetting anything by following these steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Diaper bag
  • Bibs
  • Medications
  • Jacket
  • Changing pad or receiving blanket
  • Blanket
  • Insulated lunch pack with ice pack
  • Plastic bags
  • Pacifiers
  • Food
  • Diapers
  • Pediatrician's number
  • Utensils
  • Wipes
  • Snacks
  • Bottle or sippy cup
  • Milk or formula
  • Clothes for baby and mother
  • Burp cloth
  • Small toys
  1. Step 1

Pack lots of diapers. That is one item that cannot be improvised if it is forgotten.

  2. Step 2

Pack plenty of diaper wipes. These are useful for changing, cleaning the baby and anything else that he may touch while out.

  3. Step 3

Bring a changing pad or receiving blanket to change the baby's diaper.

  4. Step 4

Pack any creams or ointments that may be needed. There are several travel size containers perfect for the diaper bag.

  5. Step 5

Bring an extra set of cloths and pair of socks for the baby. You may want to throw a shirt in the bag for yourself just in case the baby spits up on you or you encounter a diaper-changing mishap.

  6. Step 6

Place a burp cloth in an area of the bag that is easy to grab.

  7. Step 7

Place a few plastic bags in the diaper bag for dirty diapers, trash or any other soiled items.

  8. Step 8

Pack bottles and formula if necessary. If those are no longer needed, the baby will need his sippy cup.

  9. Step 9

Include milk and any of the baby's meals.

  10. Step 10

Do not forget snacks. Babies love snacks and they also work as a form of entertainment.

  11. Step 11

Bring any feeding utensils that the baby may need for his meals.

  12. Step 12

    Bring bibs for mealtime.

  13. Step 13

Pack food and drinks with an ice pack inside an insulated lunch pack.

  14. Step 14

Remember to take medications that the baby may need. Tylenol is always good to have packed at all times.

  15. Step 15

Pack small toys that will occupy the baby.

  16. Step 16

Include extra pacifiers. They are so small and are lost or dirtied very easily.

  17. Step 17

Pack a jacket and blanket no matter how hot it is. You may go somewhere that is colder than expected or be inside a building with the air conditioning set very low.

  18. Step 18

Place a hat in the bag to keep the sun or wind off the baby.

  19. Step 19

Carry the pediatrician's number in the bag at all times.

  20. Step 20

Pack a camera. Babies have cute moments everywhere they go.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is always best to overpack than to underpack.
  • Know the time frame you will be gone and then add three hours to that. Trips with a baby usually take more time than usual, so pack accordingly.
  • Wipes are also very good at removing stains on cloths.
