Tips & Warnings

  • If you move or do not receive your plates within eight to ten weeks from the date of your order plus the amount of time to the start of the next month, contact the department with your concerns.

  • List your choices for personalized license plates in order of preference. By default, the department will check availability of the first choice listed and continue to the others if the first is unacceptable.

  • Be patient. The department will contact you when your plates are available for pickup. Do not inquire about the status of your order over the phone.

  • The department will not honor requests for personalized license plates that contain prohibited characters, offensive or misleading messages or alphanumeric combinations that are already in use. Keep this in mind while choosing your plate message.

  • Personalized license plates cost more than a standard license plate. Be aware that additional fees will likely apply on top of the standard license plate fees that you are accustomed to paying.

  • Your local Revenue Office cannot and will not research the availability of your personalized license plate choices. Do not call the office and inquire about availability.

  • Once your order has been placed, all requests for order changes, cancellations and refunds will be denied. You may only request a plate change or refund if your plate has not been accepted by the office and gone into manufacturing.

  • Do not attempt to apply for personalized license plates if your registration has been revoked or suspended.
