Travelocity's online flight and hotel booking feature relieves the pain out of planning your trips. Reserve your flight and hotel with Travelocity securely and easily, and save time the time you would have spent waiting on hold with airline 800 numbers and chain hotel booking agencies.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Credit card
  • Internet access
  • Travelers' personal data
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Gather information about your trip, including the destination, date of travel and the names, birthdates and social security numbers of the travelers.

  2. Step 2

Log on to Travelocity (see link below in Resources) using a secure browser and register with the website by creating a new account. Choose a login name and password that is easy for you to remember, but difficult for others to guess. Use your previous name and password if you are a returning customer.

  3. Step 3

Click on the "Packages" tab on the website. Select "Flight and Hotel." Begin your search by entering the destination, travel dates, number of rooms and number of travelers and their ages. Accurately identifying a traveler as a minor or senior citizen may result in rate reductions or adjustments.

  4. Step 4

Review your flight information at the top of the page. By default, Travelocity offers the lowest fare flights and will automatically include these flights in your package. To change your flight information, including times of departure and arrival and airlines, simply click on the "Change Flight" link and modify.

  5. Step 5

Sort your hotel results by preference. By default, Travelocity sorts results by the website's "Picks." To sort by price, ratings, hotel name or city name, simply click on the heading of the column that contains the factor most important to you.

  6. Step 6

Compare your options. Note small or large differences between hotels and keep them in mind when narrowing down your choices. Click on the "Results on a Map" tab to help you visualize your hotel's proximity to locations of interest.

  7. Step 7

Select a hotel. Read about its features and amenities. Check features, photos and maps. If you are satisfied with the selected hotel, proceed to "Check Rates" (if available) or select a room type.

  8. Step 8

Choose a room and rate that corresponds with your travel specifics.

  9. Step 9

Review your selection. Confirm that the information displayed reflects your hotel and flight specifics.

  10. Step 10

Enter the travelers' names and other personal information if prompted. Enter the name that is to be used during hotel check-in.

  11. Step 11

Enter your credit card details and other billing information. Enter your payment information carefully, as any inaccuracies may cause your reservation to be canceled and your trip to be delayed.

  12. Step 12

Confirm your purchase. Afterwards, be sure to confirm with the credit card company, hotel and airline that your payment has been processed and your reservations are being held.

Tips & Warnings
  • Plan ahead. Booking hotels and flights in advance generally ensures availability and the lowest possible rates. Waiting until the last few weeks before your trip could result in a hefty rate increase.
  • Take your destination's events into account when planning your trip. Be advised that attempting to book hotels and flights during a popular annual event may be more difficult than at other times.
  • Have the general details of your trip planned before logging on to Travelocity.
  • Sometimes Travelocity may ask for sensitive information about its travelers. Provide social security and/or driver's license numbers as requested, but in a secure, updated Web browser.
  • Disable Autocomplete and password remembering involving any online financial transactions. Enabling these functions could give your computer's guest users access to sensitive information such as credit card and social security numbers.
