Travelocity's online car booking feature puts travel arrangements back in your control. Reserve your car with Travelocity securely and easily using the following advice.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Credit card
  • Internet access
  • Travelers' personal data
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Gather information about the trip, including the destination, date of travel and the name of the person who will be driving the car.

  2. Step 2

Log on to Travelocity (see link below in Resources) using a secure browser and register with the website by creating a new account. Choose a login name and password that is easy for you to remember, but difficult for others to guess. Use your previous name and password if you are a returning customer.

  3. Step 3

Click on the "Cars" tab on the website. Search for cars using destination, travel dates, car type and desired pick-up and drop-off times and locations. Decide if you would like to pick-up and drop-off your car at an airport, near an address or at a specific place of interest and fill in the details of your choice. Before you run your search, provide any applicable corporate discount provider information.

  4. Step 4

Sort your results by preference. By default, Travelocity sorts results by ascending prices of your preferred car type. To sort by prices of a different car type, simply click on "Sort by Price" under the type of car that interests you.

  5. Step 5

Compare your options. Note small or large differences between car types, prices and rental companies. Keep them in mind when narrowing down your choices.

  6. Step 6

    Select a car.

  7. Step 7

Review your selection. Confirm that the information displayed reflects your choices in price, car type, rental company, and pick-up and drop-off locations and times. Select additional features like upgrade and special equipment options if interested.

  8. Step 8

Enter the primary driver's name and the name of a trip contact. Add your frequent renter number and flight information if applicable.

  9. Step 9

Enter your credit card details and other billing information. Enter your payment information carefully, as any inaccuracies may cause your reservation to be canceled and your trip to be delayed.

  10. Step 10

Confirm your purchase. Afterwards, be sure to confirm with the credit card company and the rental company that your payment has been processed and your reservations are being held.

Tips & Warnings
  • Plan ahead. Booking cars in advance generally ensures availability and the lowest possible rates. Waiting until the last few weeks before your trip could result in a hefty rate increase.
  • The primary driver of your rental car must be 25 years or older and have a valid credit card. Make sure the primary driver meets these requirements before attempting to book a car.
  • Take your destination's events into account when planning your trip. Be advised that attempting to book a car during a popular annual event may be more difficult than at other times.
  • Have the general details of your trip planned before logging on to Travelocity.
  • Sometimes Travelocity may ask for sensitive information about its travelers. Provide social security and/or driver's license numbers as requested but in a secure, updated Web browser.
  • Disable Autocomplete and password remembering involving any online financial transactions. Enabling these functions could give your computer's guest users access to sensitive information such as credit card and social security numbers.
