An African violet has soft, velvety leaves and flowers that range from deep purple to white and anything in between, depending on the variety. African violets need bright light and warm, humid conditions to flourish. African violets do extremely well in artificial light so they are a beautiful addition to any room. Caring for an African violet can be easy when you follow these simple steps.

on 8/19/2007 I have had 2 African Violets. The first one died after about 6 months. The next one, which was given to me for my birthday, lasted about a year, then it died. I didn't know you had to "prune' them. I also think I may have watered it too much. I'm trying again. After reading this, I know what to do and what "not" to do.
