Tired of the headaches involved in airline travel preparation? Travelocity's online flight booking feature takes the pain out of planning your trips. Book your flight with Travelocity securely and easily and have your vacation live up to its potential.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Credit card
  • Internet access
  • Travelers' personal data
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Gather information for your flight, including the destination and the names and birthdays of the travelers.

  2. Step 2

Log on to Travelocity using a secure browser and register with the Web site by creating a new account. Choose a login name and password that is easy for you to remember, but difficult for others to guess. Use your previous name and password if you are a returning customer.

  3. Step 3

Search for flights using destination, travel dates, number of passengers and their ages. Accurately identifying a traveler as a minor or senior citizen may result in fare reductions or adjustments.

  4. Step 4

Sort your results by preference. By default, Travelocity sorts results by price. To sort by airline, departure time, arrival time or total travel time, simply click on the heading of the column that contains the factor most important to you.

  5. Step 5

Compare your options. Note small or large differences between flights and keep them in mind when narrowing down your choices.

  6. Step 6

Select a flight, including a return flight when flying roundtrip.

  7. Step 7

Review your trip summary, including travel and price specifics. If correct, agree to Travelocity's policies, rules and restrictions. Choose seating preferences if offered.

  8. Step 8

Enter your credit card details and other billing information. Enter your payment information carefully, as any inaccuracies may cause your reservation to be canceled and your trip to be delayed.

  9. Step 9

Confirm your purchase. Afterwards, be sure to confirm with the credit card company and the airline that your payment has been processed and your reservations are being held.

Tips & Warnings
  • Plan ahead. Booking airline tickets in advance generally ensures availability and the lowest possible fares. Waiting until the last few weeks before your trip could result in a hefty fare increase.
  • If you are on a tight budget, consider booking a flight between Monday 12 p.m. and Thursday 12 p.m. Some airlines offer their lowest fares during this time period.
  • Have the general details of your trip planned before logging on to Travelocity.
  • Sometimes Travelocity may ask for sensitive information about its travelers. Provide social security and/or driver's license numbers as requested, but in a secure, updated Web browser.
  • Disable Autocomplete and password remembering involving any online financial transactions. Enabling these functions could give your computer's guest users access to sensitive information such as credit card and social security numbers.

on 1/28/2008 Be very careful with Travelocity. Their customer service has a bad reputation - Google "Travelocity problems" to see why. I personally have a family member who is trying to get a $400 loss with them resolved.
