Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Select the time of year you want to fish. Fishing season begins on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and continues through the first Sunday in November.

Choose your fishing destination. The main fishing locations include: Yellowstone Lake and its tributaries, Yellowstone River, Madison River, Firehole River and the Gibbon River.
Step3
Pay attention to the rules and regulations posted at each location, which differ from place to place.

Tips & Warnings

  • Watch for some wildlife. Yellowstone has an abundance of wild animals that are a lot of fun to watch.
  • Get detailed maps of each section of the park you plan to visit.
  • Yellowstone can be a packed place during the busy season. Tourists seem to be everywhere, but if you get away from the most popular places then you will not cross your fishing line with four other anglers.
