The hunt for a sponsor can be a race team's biggest obstacle. Just as fine-tuning a racing chassis is a necessary process, and adjusting an engine to achieve more horsepower is critical, acquiring a racing sponsorship is important to a race team's success. The search for a sponsor has basic rules, though, and these can prove to be some of a racer's toughest challenges.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet
  • E-mail
  1. Step 1

Search a 25-mile radius around the race track where the team will be racing weekly. Most small- to medium-sized towns have a nice variety of businesses that would be a perfect fit for a race team.

  2. Step 2

Choose the right image for your race team. The use of a racing team Web site can provide opportunities to the racer, and it is vital to maintain a crisp and professional appearance to potential sponsors.

  3. Step 3

Present a concise and attractive proposal to the sponsor. Make sure the information is targeted specifically for the potential sponsor and highlights the value the investment offers.

  4. Step 4

Finalize the sponsorship deal by emphasizing the value to the sponsor will exceed the asking price. Acquiring some sponsors will be more difficult than others, but stick to this motto.

  5. Step 5

Keep the sponsor by doing everything possible to create the sponsor's desired amount of exposure. Provide ample information about the sponsor to race track officials to maximize exposure.

Tips & Warnings
  • Submit stories about a sponsor for publication in the track program. This will provide more exposure to the general public.
  • Be mindful of the sponsor's name and logo in photographs. When the race team is photographed, make sure the sponsor name and logo are clearly visible.
