The University of Arizona's Flandrau Science Center brings the stars and space geology to the public in an educational and entertaining fashion. Here's how you can plan a trip to view the stars.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Visit any time of the year. Tucson has more than 172 cloudless days a year, and clear skies mean great star viewings.
Step2
Park at metered spots on the campus and at designated garages and surface lots.
Step3
Take a trip to space at the University of Arizona's Flandrau Observatory, Wednesday through Saturday, year-round. They offer free night viewings from 7 to 10 p.m. Take advantage of this when the night sky is clear.
Step4
Catch the show at the Planetarium, Thursday-Sunday at select times. This theater features state-of-the-art projectors showing stars, planets and galaxies on the domed ceiling. Shows change periodically, so call (520) 621-STAR to learn the schedule when you visit.
Step5
Walk through the Mineral Museum, which is also located in the Science Center. The museum features a touring exhibits and has specimens on loan.
Step6
Call for special programs during anticipated comet sightings and other special circumstances. Astronomy professors and students lead these programs to help the public become sky watchers.
