How to Find Hotels in Rocky Point, Mexico

Rate: (2 Ratings)

Rocky Point, also known as Puerto Penasco, is a jewel in the Sonoran Desert on the Sea of Cortez. It is a longtime favorite of the people of southern Arizona and California. Just a few hours from Tucson and San Diego, people flock here in droves and come back often to this once small fishing town. This treasure in the desert is growing fast, but is still managing to keep its smalltown Mexico feel.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Call a travel agent to see if there are any recently opened hotels. Newly built hotels and resorts usually do not fill up as quickly as people's old favorites.
Step2
Trade your timeshare weeks for a stay in Rocky Point. It is just a stones throw away from the U.S. and Mexican border and the beaches rival the Rivera.
Step3
Use your credit card points to get beachfront accommodations.
Step4
Book your accommodations early if planning on vacationing during spring break or the summer. Rocky Point during spring break fills with college students. Partying is constant and pervasive, so beware if bringing small children with you.
Step5
Rent a condo, townhome, or beach home from a reputable company. If possible, try companies that have an office in the United States.
Step6
Camp in your RV on the beach in Rocky Point. It is just a short walk to the shore from this nicely maintained campground. Call ahead to see if reservations are needed for the campsite.

Tips & Warnings

  • If camping, be sure to get approval before using your generator.
  • Never book a deal that is too good to be true without a personal reference. Before you give your money or credit card number to anyone, make sure you are dealing with a reputable company.
