How to Remove Permanent Marker Marks From Household Surfaces

Most permanent markers create stains that are difficult to treat. If you clean the stain immediately after it was made, you may be able to remove the stain before it sets. Follow these simple steps to remove the permanent marker stain.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nonabrasive scrubbing agent
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Dish detergent
  • Sponge
  • Cotton balls
  1. Step 1

    As soon as possible, use a sponge and dish detergent to wipe up the majority of the stain.

  2. Step 2

    If the stain persists, try blotting it with rubbing alcohol and cotton balls.

  3. Step 3

    Scrub the stain with a nonabrasive scrubbing agent and a damp sponge.

  4. Step 4

    Rinse the stain with another clean sponge.

  5. Step 5

    Repeat Steps 3 and 4 if necessary until the stain is gone.
