Step 1
Pack your snorkel and fins in a mesh bag if you plan to bring your own. This lets the sand and water seep out so the equipment can dry. Scuba shops carry great bags that can be carried like backpacks.
-
Step 2
Include sunscreen. It is a necessity for any outdoor trip. Even on overcast days you can burn severely. Also bring lip balm.
-
Step 3
Buy a mask defogger solution. This is a must. Using it will keep you from being forced out of the water.
-
Step 4
Pack a diving knife. Depending on where you are going to snorkel you may need one. If you will be flying to your destination be sure to pack the knife in check-in luggage.
-
Step 5
Pack diving booties. They are necessary if you are going to be snorkeling in shallow waters. Getting cut by coral or stung by a jellyfish will shorten your underwater outing.
