The Tucson Zoo offers visitors access to 17 acres of land that house more than 500 animals from around the world. Here are some of the attractions you shouldn't miss on your next visit.

From Quick Guide: Visit the Zoo
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take a guided tour. Choose the morning tour, Breakfast at a Beastly Hour, which begins at 7:30 a.m., or the Evening Safari, which starts at 6:30 p.m.

  2. Step 2

Feed the giraffes during the Giraffe Encounter. There is a nominal fee for this privilege, but it is well worth it to be close to these majestic animals.

  3. Step 3

Take the Train Car Ride. This is an exciting way to see the park and zoo. The train is small and can get crowded on beautiful spring Tucson days, but the kids really love it.

  4. Step 4

Visit the Extraordinary Elephant Class and learn how the largest land mammal lives. You even get to meet two of them!

  5. Step 5

See the polar bears before they take their naps. Yes, polar bears in the desert! Watch these amazing animals swim in their pool, play with ice blocks and frolic with beach balls.

  6. Step 6

If you visit during the winter, check out the Festival of Lights. During the summer, be sure to sign the kids up for Summer Zoo Camp (see Resources below).
