I don't have any kids. But I do have younger sisters. Four of them, to be exact.
Along the way I've discovered a few tricks about how to make them choke down their vegetables.
Here's one of the favorites.
Leave a few eggs out--room temp is best for creating your perfect soft-boiled egg.
Step2
Put your eggs in a pot, cover with enough water to immerse the eggs, and bring to the boil.
Step3
The MOMENT you see bubbles, reduce the heat and allow the eggs to simmer.
Step4
From the moment you see bubbles, set a timer. You should wait no more than 3 minutes from the first boil, to extracting the eggs from the water.
Step5
Run cold water over eggs. Turn the heat back on your original pot and tumble in a cluster of asparagus.
Step6
Cook the asparagus spears for only about a minute, then run cold water on them as well.
Step7
Place your eggs in little cups and crack the upper half of the shell.
Step8
Serve each little kiddie one egg in one cup, with 2 spears of asparagus soldiers as silverware. Let them peel the top of the egg themselves for added maturity.
