How to Make Egg Dumplings

Egg dumplings orginated in Germany and are a favorite in the midwest. The following egg dumpling recipe is delicous and easy.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cup sifted flour
  • Salted water or soup stock
  • Flour
  • Milk
  • Egg
  • Salt
  • Stock pot
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Colander
  • Medium bowl
  1. Step 1

    Add salt and milk to beaten egg in a medium size bowl. Stir in flour to form a smooth batter.

  2. Step 2

    Bring one quart of salted water or soup stock to boil in a stock pot.

  3. Step 3

    Drop batter by teaspoons into boiling water or soup stock.

  4. Step 4

    Cover tightly and cook 15 minutes. Avoid lifting lid.

  5. Step 5

    Drain in colander.

  6. Step 6

    Serve with gravy or stew.

  7. Step 7

    Makes 8 dumplings.
