I had trouble with this before, but now I'm an expert!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • girl's lacrosse stick
  • ball
  • space to cradle
  1. Step 1

First, get a girl's lacrosse stick. You'll know if it is one is it is has a shallow pocket.

  2. Step 2

Next, decide if you're left or right handed. If right handed, put your left hand close to the bottom of the stick and hold securely.

  3. Step 3

With your right hand, put your right hand underneath the head of the stick (the part with the net) and slide it down until you're about 9 inches down (put athletic tape there to remind you where your hand should be).

  4. Step 4

Holding the stick as so, hold the stick in the knuckles of your right hand. This is important, for you shouldn't have the stick in a fist of your right hand.

  5. Step 5

Use the knuckles of your right hand to roll the stick towards you, kinda like a C shape. Your wrist should back and forth. Yor left hand should be holding the stick in a fist to secure the stick.

  6. Step 6

Both of your wrists should be moving together. IMPORTANT: Try and make sure the net faces you at all times! Otherwise the ball with go flying.

  7. Step 7

For lefties, it's the same, except your right hand is on the bottom of the stick and your left hand is 9 inches down from the head.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be patient with this
  • Cradle in a nice motion. Don't try and do it too fast.
  • Make sure the head faces you, or it'll fly.
  • Use this same position to catch and throw
  • This is my way of cradling, but you can find your own effective way; everyone's way is different
