How to Complete the Backwater Station Mission in StarCraft

If you’re new to the game or are playing the single-player campaign for the first time, this will be the first mission that is likely to give you any trouble. Up until now, StarCraft has just been a cakewalk to get you used to the game, but now things start to get a bit more serious. In case you got trounced the first time, here are tips to complete the Backwater Station Mission in StarCraft.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

• Jim Raynor
• Space Construction Vehicles
• Firebats
• Marines

1. Set your Space Construction Vehicles (SCVs) to work harvesting minerals, then build five more to harvest the Vespene geyser just north of your command center.
2. Build seven Marines as quickly as you can. You may want to build another Supply Depot as well.
3. Take all 11 Marines and Jim Raynor to the east and clear out the Zerg. They can't respawn after dying, so once this area is clear, you’re good to go.
4. Set up a base in the far east to harvest a secondary geyser and mineral fields. Minerals will be the resource you’ll need most, so start harvesting them first.
5. Take Raynor and your Marines to the northwest and reclaim the bunkers and the rest of the buildings.
6. Stick three Marines and one Firebat in each of the bunkers. This will hold off any Zerg assaults.
7. Replace your losses and beef up your squad with Marines and Firebats, and continue clearing the Zerg to the southeast.
8. Work your way up to the northeast and clear the Zerg. Destroy the Infested Command Center to complete the mission.
