After you shoot your video, you need to upload it onto your computer so you can edit it. Here's how you capture the video using Final Cut Pro.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • computer
  • Final Cut Pro
  • Firewire cable
  • camcorder
  • finished video
  1. Step 1

    Once you're done with your video, make sure your tape is still in the video camera. Rewind it to the beginning of the footage that you want to capture.

  2. Step 2

    Find your Firewire cable and use it to connect your video camera to the computer.

  3. Step 3

    Open up Final Cut Pro on your computer.

  4. Step 4

    Go to your File menu and find Log & Capture

  5. Step 5

    A window should pop up. Press play on your video camera, and the footage on the video camera should also appear in the Log and Capture Window.

  6. Step 6

    Label the clip and press the Now button under Capture.

  7. Step 7

    Final Cut Pro will capture your video in 30 min segments. You can press ESC to quit capturing. After it's done, you will see it appear on the Browser window on the top left corner.

Tips & Warnings
  • Before you start saving things, go to your System Settings and set all your scratch disks to a folder that you want all your files to be saved into.
