How to Synchronize Your Treo and Computer Using USB

Keeping your Treo up to date with appointments and phone numbers is essential to maximize its efficiency. Synchronizing your Treo with information stored on your computer can be done via a USB cable. Here's how to sync using USB.

Instructions

Before you can perform a USB sync, first check to see if you need to configure the HotSync Manager. Click on the HotSync icon in the taskbar of your Palm Treo software and verify that "Local Serial" or "Local" is checked. If so, you're good to go. If not, select "Local Serial" to activate the serial port option, click the "HotSync Manager" icon, select "Setup," click "Local Tab" and choose the serial port.

On the Treo screen, tap "Sync." A message will pop up on your Treo screen when it's finished.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your Treo must be the only active IR device when using the IR port.

  • Set a password on your computer and Treo to add security to your device connection.

  • Change the visibility of your device to "Hidden" to prevent other Bluetooth devices from synching. If set to "Temporary" you'll lose any devices not on your "Trusted" list after 2 minutes.

  • Never synchronize two Treos with the same name on the same computer.
