How to Buy and Sell Linden Dollars in Second Life

Using a unit of currency called the Linden dollar, members of the Second Life virtual community buy and sell goods, services and land. Premium members, who pay a monthly fee to use the site, receive a small stipend in Linden dollars (L$). Members even take virtual jobs to earn L$ so they can buy properties and objects. But when you get serious about participating the Second Life economy, you might consider buying virtual currency outright using real money. • Second Life Client download

1. Connect with Second Life at the Web site's home page (see the Resources section below). Enroll for free or choose a premium membership. Activate the download.

2. Press the green hand icon to enter the Second Life site. Open "Tech Support" and type "Buy Linden dollars" into the search box. Find the article of the same name and click on it.

3. Read the short article and find the two boxes marked "Buy" and "Sell." Open one or the other to find more information about buying and selling Linden dollars and a form to fill out to make a transaction.

4. Enter either the amount of Linden dollars you want to buy or sell or the amount in U.S. dollars or the currency (euros or others) you want to match. LindeX will automatically calculate the best rate. You will pay a fee will based on the amount of currency that changes hands.
