Rate: (0 Ratings)

We all sign up for email mailing lists, but they tend to clog up email inboxes. Wouldn’t you feel better if you could sort messages from your mailing lists to a different box that you can get to later, since they are not necessarily spam? With Gmail labels, you can easily sort your email by topic and source.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Email account
  • Internet access
  • Computer

Step1
Log into Gmail by entering your username and password in the fields indicated.
Step2
Go to the green labels box, and select the Edit Labels link.
Step3
Create a label. This will be how you want your emails to be flagged, so make it something simple like “Friends,” “Family” or “Work."
Step4
Click "Create." This will save your label, which will now appear in your Labels box.
Step5
Apply specific labels to emails as you receive them. Click on the More box, and select the label that you want to apply to that email.

Tips & Warnings

  • Only create labels that you will use often.
  • Don’t make too many labels, or you may confuse yourself trying to label everything that comes into your inbox.
