Try Dr. Shettles' technique, which recommends that couples have sex regularly from the day when the period ends until two to four days before ovulation. To know the exact time of ovulation, Dr. Shettles suggests three methods--ovulation predictor kits, charting of cervical mucus and charting of basal body temperature (BBT). See Resources below for more information.

Try to the Whelan method. It suggests the couple have sex on the basis of basal body temperature (BBT). The woman should maintain a graph of her daily BBT, planning intercourse when her temperature rises by ½ to 1 degree. This usually happens near ovulation.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Dr. Shettles' or the Whelan method should be tried one at a time, though they can be combined with the pre-conception diet and the Chinese conception chart.

    • You can try various folklore techniques to conceive a girl child. But remember that they should be harmless activities.
