Homework is seldom enjoyable, especially after long hours of study at school, but it's still an important part of a child's education. The best way to help your child finish it with few mistakes is to plan a set time for homework and make sure your child sticks to the schedule. Follow these steps to find out how you can.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Set a specific time of the day for homework. Make sure your child doesn’t normally feel either sleepy or too excited at that time. Homework isn’t exactly an interesting thing to do for most kids. Your child might take too long to focus.

  2. Step 2

Set a place to do homework. Select a place that's away from any sources of distraction like the TV, telephone or stereo.

  3. Step 3

Set a target time to finish different sections of the homework. This will help you manage time well.

  4. Step 4

Plan small breaks between different tasks. Study marathons can be boring. They can cause the child to resent the time.

  5. Step 5

Plan to go through the entire homework list the day after you have finished. This will help you make sure that you don't miss out on anything.

Tips & Warnings
  • Praise your child for every task well done. This will encourage them to stay focussed.
