Instructions

    • 1

What is cPanel? It's a program and a hosting site that makes Web page creation and maintenance a breeze.

    • 2

Get cPanel (see References below). You'll need to pay for the features but you can look at the website first to make sure it's right for you.

    • 3

Get going. If you already have cPanel and just want to know how to upload the files using cPanel File Manager, look online. Get on the cPanel Web homepage (see Resources below).

    • 4

Locate the File Manager icon from the homepage. It's toward the bottom of the list of icons. It's a blue and red picture on a file folder.

    • 5

Click the icon. Make sure that you are clicking the icon that says "File Manager."

    • 6

Notice the new screen. You're now in the "File Manager." Here you can access all your files that you have uploaded. Choose to trash them or upload new ones.

    • 7

Click the "Upload Files" button on the top of the page. It will have a large black up arrow next to it.

    • 8

Notice a new page will open. Click the "Choose" button next to the blank white box. This will give a browse box that will allow you to locate the files you're looking for.

    • 9

Locate the file you want and click "Open." This will make the box disappear. Then, when you have the files you want to upload, click "Upload."

Tips & Warnings

  • Click on the "Overwrite files" box if you want the new file to overwrite the old one.

  • Look for more information in the cPanel User Manual (see References below).

  • If you don't have a copy of the file on your hard drive, and you delete it from your cPanel, it's gone forever.
