Army units that have vehicles are bound to spend at least one day a week in the motor pool doing vehicle inspections. Most soldiers know that it doesn't take all day to complete the weekly inspection. What better time to catch up on your sleep than motor pool day? Follow this simple plan and you could find yourself leaving the motor pool rested and ready.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Complete your visual checks first. Make sure that the lights work. Also, make sure the outside of the vehicle is in proper working order.
Step2
The real fun starts when it's time to inspect the undercarriage of the vehicle. Start by putting on your safety glasses. You don't want to get any foreign objects or fluids in your eyes.
Step3
Starting at the front, crawl under the vehicle and complete the inspection from front to back.
Step4
Once you reach the back, it is time to relax! Now you're going to "start inspecting" the vehicle from back to front.
Step5
Take the buttons of your "BDU" blouse and fix your hands around part of the vehicle. You need to make sure that it looks like you're busy inspecting something.
Step6
Go ahead and close your eyes. Take a few minutes to dream about what you are going to do on the weekend or just relax while it looks like you're busy inspecting the undercarriage of your 5-ton truck.
Step7
Repeat this step as you work your way forward to the front of the vehicle. You can vary the technique you use as you work your way forward. You can "fix" your arms in the up position. You can also roll over on your side and pretend to write on your clipboard. Be creative!

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't take all day to complete the inspection. Most NCO's and officers know that it only takes an hour or two for a vehicle inspection. You can, however, get a good 15-minute or 20-minute nap in.
  • Always be sure to actually complete the inspection! Your life may depend on this vehicle. Make sure that it's actually in working order before you take some time to relax.
