Instructions

    • 1

Remove your Denon home theater system from its packaging. Make sure you have all the cables and components. Inspect each component for damage.

    • 2

Place the DVD surround receiver in a convenient location. Try to have it in an area that is protected from direct sunlight and dust.

    • 3

Choose whether to mount the front speakers on a wall or other flat surface, or to use the included speaker stands. If you decide to flush mount the speakers, you will need a drill and screwdriver to make the necessary attachments.

    • 4

Set the sub-woofer. This speaker should be in the general vicinity of the video screen, but within reach of the connection cables.

    • 5

Place the surround speakers. Not all Denon systems have surround sound speakers (the S-101, for example, does not have surround speakers).

    • 6

Run the connection cables. Denon speaker cables have a connector that is similar to a USB cable, but they are color-coded red and white for right and left, just like normal.

    • 7

Connect the DVD surround receiver to the video display unit. Check the connection path and make sure that the audio output comes from the video display unit to the receiver's inputs.

    • 8

Connect the power cord to the DVD surround receiver. Turn on the power and test out the setup.

Tips & Warnings

  • The sub-woofer may cause interference with your television if you have set it up too close to the screen. Keep at least an arm's length between the sub-woofer and the TV to prevent this from happening.

  • Most of Denon's home theater systems have built-in iPod docks and support portable music players. Make sure that the set up configuration does not block access to these handy ports.

  • Making audio connections while the system is powered up is very likely to leave you with damaged speakers. Turn off the power before making connections.
