A staple of podcasting is an interview. If you want to record the conversation through the phone, one way to do that is by buying a recording jack that you can plug into your phone.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • phone
  • recorder
  • recording jack
  1. Step 1
     

    A recording jack connects in between your telephone and handset.

  2. Step 2

    Unplug your headset from your phone, and plug in one side of your recording jack.

  3. Step 3
     

    Plug the cord from the headset into the other side of your recording jack.

  4. Step 4
     

    Record.

  5. Step 5
     

    In order to use it for your podcast, you need to have your audio in mp3 format. So, if you didn't use a digital recorder, you have a few options in terms of how to convert it. You can use Audacity to record it from your computer.

  6. Step 6
     

    You can also buy a program like iMic and record it onto a sound card.

  • Make sure the other party is aware that you are recording the phone call, so you avoid any legal issues or angry interviewees.
