Downloadable books come in a number of forms: Ebooks to be read on an Ebook reader, PDFs to be read on the computer or printed out, or Audio books. You might still love printed books, but some books might be better suited to a download.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Mp3 player or PDF reader
  1. Step 1

Go to the Electronic Literature Foundation (greatbooks.org): a number of classic books available online. These are public domain books and don’t cost anything. There are other free book sites online as well, like Readprint.com.

  2. Step 2

There are a number of ebook or audio book dealers online. A simple search for ebooks or audio books will land a number of different sites. Fictionwise.com is one of the most popular sites.

  3. Step 3

Check ratings and reviews of the ebook and audio book. For audio books, the quality of the reading is as important as the quality of the book itself.

  4. Step 4

Download an ebook and upload it to your ebook reader or else read it on your laptop. You could also print out the book—though the cost of ink and paper might offset what you’re saving on the ebook. For an audio book, upload it to your iPod or other media device.

Tips & Warnings
  • At the very least you’ll need a PDF reader like Adobe Reader, a free download.
  • Set up an account with a good and secure ebook site so you don’t have to keep inputting credit card information.
