1. Meet the teacher and discuss how you can help the teacher provide "edutainment," or education and entertainment.

2. Get basic information like the strength of the class and the names of the children.

3. Work out a schedule with the teacher. This will help you utilize your time and resources to the best.

4. Note that your aim should be to interact with the students and hold their attention using various techniques.

5. Make sure the children remain calm.

6. Prepare yourself before going into the classroom. For example, rehearse narrating stories in innovative ways, practice actions and expressions you can use while narrating the stories to the children.

7. Monitor the children carefully. Take special care during lunchtime. Play a game or any other activity that involves taking children out of the classroom.

8. Help the teacher keep track of attendance. Volunteering for this job during exams can be a great help to the teacher.

9. Share your ideas about various group activities with the teacher. This way, you can help the teacher in breaking the monotony of regular group activities that are carried out in the school and also give valuable suggestions in conducting them.

10. See to it that the classroom stays clean. Not only is it a great help to the teacher, it also helps the children develop a good civic sense.
