Things You'll Need:
- Internet access
- Computer
-
Step 1
Ask others. If you know of someone else who has undergone breast reduction surgery, use them as a resource. Ask them if they are satisfied with the long-term results of the surgery.
-
Step 2
Do your research. Surf the Internet and browse medical books to learn about the long-term effects and results of breast reduction surgery. Use a search engine like Google or Yahoo; or visit a medical Web site like the one for the Cleveland Clinic (see Resources below). Find out if the breast reduction results are lasting.
-
Step 3
Talk to your surgeon. Contact your breast reduction surgeon and schedule a one-on-one consultation with them. This is your opportunity to ask your surgeon any and all questions you may have, including whether the surgery results will last or whether you will eventually need to have the surgery again.
-
Step 4
Know that breast reduction surgery is permanent. The remaining breast cells can enlarge and swell if you gain weight or take hormone supplements; however, the results from the surgery are completely permanent.
