Step 1
Choose at least two plastic surgeons that you have researched and found that are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. You'll want to have a consultation with every surgeon you are interested in working with, so you can compare how they act with patients and what kind of work they do.
-
Step 2
Prepare a list of questions you want to ask and take them with you to each consultation. You may want to ask the surgeon about his or her personal record with brow lifts, what he or she thinks they can do for you, and if they can show you any before and after pictures of previous patients.
-
Step 3
Bring your medical history with you. Knowing your medical history is something that your surgeon will ask about anyway, so you should be prepared for this. He or she may see complications from a surgery or illness in your past that should be taken into consideration before the surgery is performed.
-
Step 4
Discuss with the surgeon what your expectations and concerns are about the result of the brow lift surgery. This will not only help your surgeon get to know you better, but to help plan what kind of procedure he or she might use in the surgery, and if a brow lift is all you need to get the desired results.
-
Step 5
Discuss the different procedures the surgeon can perform for the brow lift surgery. There are a couple of different techniques they can use. One is the Coronal incision technique, which involves one long "headphone-shaped" incision along the scalp and hairline, and the other if an Endoscopic technique, which is three to five smaller cuts along the scalp and hairline that is supposed to leave less scarring.
-
Step 6
Learn about the time it will take to recover from the brow lift surgery. If you need to arrange it for someone to pick you up from the hospital, take care of you at home, watch your incisions for problems, you'll want to arrange that before the surgery. You'll also want to arrange any time off work you'll need.
