Things You'll Need:
- Internet access
- Computer
-
Step 1
Research on the Internet all you can about browlift surgery. You can find a number of articles on Smart Cosmetic Surgery Articles about browlift surgery and the risk factors, or you could visit the Web site of an actual cosmetic surgery practice like Brisbane Plastic Surgery, which will also have a list of the risks associated with the procedure (see Resources).
-
Step 2
Ask the surgeon questions about the risks. He or she will discuss things like nerve damage at the surgery site, bleeding or hematoma (pooling of the blood) at the surgery site, or seroma, which is the collection of fluid around the surgery site.
-
Step 3
Examine your overall health. If you are suffering from a chronic illness, are a smoker, are allergic to any medications or are a heavy drinker, you will want to talk to your doctor or cosmetic surgeon about these problems and what he or she can do to help you reduce the risks.
-
Step 4
Learn about the risks after the actual surgery. You will want to know about scarring at the hair line and how some people have to wear their hair over their foreheads to hide the scars, infection at the surgery site and seepage.
-
Step 5
Talk to people who have had the surgery before. You can find out if they had any complications with their own browlift surgery, and if they were able to get over them easily and get back to healing.
-
Step 6
Educate yourself on how to avoid the risks after healing. After healing, you will be confronted with sun damage, skin stretching, wrinkling and other factors that will make your younger look deteriorate quickly.
