Having a manicure or polished nails is nice, but it’s also nice to be able to take the nail polish off and start fresh. There is a wide variety of types of nail polish remover to choose from, and you should choose the type that is best for your nails.

Things You'll Need:

  • Cotton balls or cotton pads
  • Nail polish remover
  1. Step 1

    Choose the nail polish remover that is best for your nail type.

  2. Step 2

    Open the lid of the nail polish remover bottle.

  3. Step 3

    Take a cotton ball or cotton pad and place it over the opening.

  4. Step 4

    Tip the bottle to get some nail polish remover on the cotton ball or pad.

  5. Step 5

    Rub the wet cotton ball or pad over your nail. You will need to use some pressure.

  6. Step 6

    The nail polish should come off easily.

  7. Step 7

    Get a new pad or ball when the one you are using is full of nail polish color.

  8. Step 8

    Continue until all your nails are done.

  9. Step 9

    Go over your nails with a fresh cotton ball or cotton pad with nail polish remover to remove any excess residue and to clean your nails completely.

  10. Step 10

    Wash your hands.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be wary of nail polish remover that contains acetone—acetone will dry out your nails and cuticles, causing your nails to become brittle and dry, and it may also cause hang nails.
