Instructions

    • 1

Get a raw chicken egg. Using any egg except a chicken egg won't work as well for this trick. A quail egg would be too small and will get smashed in your hand, and an ostrich egg would be too big for one hand.

    • 2

Hold your hand palm up. This way you can ensure getting a good, correct grip on the egg and keep the egg from falling to the floor and breaking. That is the opposite of what you are looking for.

    • 3

Wrap your fingers evenly around the egg. This is the only way you will be able to put even pressure on the egg. If your fingers aren't aligned correctly, you will break the shell.

    • 4

Squeeze the egg gently at first, putting even pressure on all 4 fingers. The shape of the egg will hold the weight, and you can practice evening out the amount of force you use at this point without breaking the egg.

    • 5

Squeeze the egg as hard as you'd like after learning how to balance the pressure between your fingers as they are wrapped around the egg. If you've done it correctly, the egg shouldn't break or even crack.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are nervous about trying this, put the egg in a plastic Ziploc bag before performing the trick. Even if you do break the egg, it will be contained inside the bag.

  • Make sure that the egg you use is raw. If you use a hard-boiled egg, the shell will crack. Hard boiling an egg weakens the texture of the shell.

  • Do not wear a ring while trying to squeeze an egg. This will make the pressure uneven and you will crack the shell.
