As much as you love perfume, there are times that wearing perfume should be avoided. Knowing when not to wear perfume is just as important as knowing which perfume to wear at other times.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Consider the situation and the impression that you want to leave before spraying on the perfume.

  2. Step 2

Think about the room in which the event will be held. If it will be a small event in a closed room, skip the perfume. It may affect others negatively.

  3. Step 3

Consider the people that you will be with. If any have allergies, don’t wear perfume. If you’re uncertain, it's better to be safe than sorry.

  4. Step 4

Will you be in a closed car or small space with other people? Most people won’t tell you that your perfume bothers them, but more people are affected by scent sensitivities than you think.

  5. Step 5

Consider applying your perfume after you arrive at work if you take public transportation.

  6. Step 6

Leave the perfume off if you have a doctor’s or dentist’s appointment, and never wear perfume if you are having surgery or X-rays.

  7. Step 7

Skip the perfume at a job interview. You want to be remembered for your skills, not your alluring scent.

  8. Step 8

Don’t wear perfume for outdoor picnics or barbecues, especially if they are near gardens. The scent of perfume attracts bees and other insects.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you carpool with someone to work, carry your perfume with you and apply it after you leave the car. Perfume in enclosed spaces can quickly become overwhelming.

on 3/4/2009 Step 5 is a horrible idea. Never spray perfume at work, especially in an office environment. Your coworkers need to breathe. It is obnoxious, even in the bathroom.
