Instructions

    • 1

Keep your nails clean with daily washing.

    • 2

Avoid damaging your nails by tearing them off or filing them the wrong way (only file in one direction and don't file too sharply at the edges).

    • 3

After washing, apply oil or moisturizer around the cuticle and nail bed. Massage in gently and avoid pushing the cuticle back.

    • 4

Apply moisturizer to the cuticle area after doing dishes, washing hair or soaking nails prior to a manicure.

    • 5

Vitamin E oil and lanolin oil both help keep cuticles soft and manageable, which will help keep your nails strong and shiny.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are in a line of work that requires frequent hand washing, always moisturize after washing. Keep a small squeeze bottle of vitamin E oil or lanolin oil that you can apply to your cuticles several times a day.

  • Gelatin will do nothing at all for your nails. In fact, soaking your nails in gelatin may do more harm than good as your nails can become water-logged and more prone to splitting.

  • Avoid pushing your cuticles back. The cuticles are a part of the body's immune system, a physical barrier to dirt and germs. When you push them back, you allow dirt to get into the nail bed, which can cause infections and damage to your nails.
