A much better way is to use liquid spray deodorant (available everywhere in the developed world in an ozone-friendly pump spray). Solid stick deodorant will stain no matter what you do. -

When putting a shirt on, fold it up, so that the inside is showing, but it is not fully inside out, then put the shirt on. This way, if you do get deordorant stains, they will be on the inside on the shirt! -
