How to Improve Circulation in Your Feet

Rate: (5 Ratings)

Keeping good circulation flowing to your feet is essential for not only the health of your feet, but also for your own comfort. Because our feet hold and carry our weight around all day, it is important to understand how to keep them healthy and happy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Well-fitting footwear
  • Exercise

Step1
Choose shoes that fit right. A good strategy for buying shoes is to go shopping at the end of the day, when your feet are at their largest.
Step2
Make sure you have enough toe space in your shoes. The ball of your foot should fit easily and comfortably into the widest part of your shoe, and there should be plenty of wiggle room for your toes.
Step3
Purchase athletic shoes that support circulation. Shoes should bend where your toes bend, not in the arch.
Step4
Choose a pair of shoes with a flexible and soft upper material that matches the shape of your foot.
Step5
Exercise regularly, especially if you have a desk job.
Step6
Find work-related excuses to get up and walk around periodically during the day. For example, instead of sending email messages to coworkers, go talk to them in person.
Step7
Deskercise! Wiggle your toes and rotate your ankles while you work to keep your circulation flowing.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep your feet warm and dry, especially in cold weather.
  • If circulation is a serious problem for you (for example, if you have diabetes), practice regular foot checks and see your doctor when necessary.
