Your body odor is individual, and can be influenced by many things such as diet, gender, occupation, mood, health, medication and genetics. If you are having difficulty with body odor, and your deodorant doesn't seem to be working, it may be time to think about how the food you eat is contributing to your body odor.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Limit your red meat intake. Red meat can be a cause of body odor, sometimes causing stagnation and putrefaction in the digestive track, resulting in the release of toxins into the bloodstream.

  2. Step 2

Avoid processed foods. A diet that is heavy in foods made with refined white flour, hydrogenated oils, sugars and other processed ingredients can be responsible for creating unpleasant body odors.

  3. Step 3

Eat enough fiber. A diet low in fiber may cause constipation, which can contribute to body odor.

  4. Step 4

Avoid foods with chlorine such as eggs, liver, fish and legumes. These foods may cause body odor in people who cannot metabolize these foods readily. A "fishy" smell is a clue to this type of odor.

  5. Step 5

Stay away from spicy and smelly foods. Eating lots of onions, garlic, curry and certain spicy foods may cause your body to create odor that can be offensive.

  6. Step 6

Limit your coffee and alcohol intake.

  7. Step 7

Stay away from foods that contain rancid fats and oils such as fried and baked goods.

Tips & Warnings
  • To determine which food or foods is causing your body odor, remove foods from your diet one at a time and wait a few days to see if there is any effect.
  • Body odor can be caused by fungal diseases and kidney and liver conditions. See your doctor if changing your diet does not eliminate offensive body odor.
