LiveJournal is a popular blogging site that allows users to post individual or community blogs about a specific topic of interest. If you’re a new user, these steps will help you log into LiveJournal and begin making entries in your own personal Web log.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Open your Internet browser. There is not much difference in browsers in terms of the performance capability of LiveJournal.

  2. Step 2

Log onto the official LiveJournal Web site (see Resources below). You must always log onto the LiveJournal site to change your LiveJournal account or your page.

  3. Step 3

Enter your username in the first box located in the upper right-hand side of the LiveJournal page. Press the “Tab” key or click in the second box to put in your password.

  4. Step 4

Enter your password in the second box below the username slot. Click “Login.”

  5. Step 5

Log into LiveJournal using an Open ID if you are a non-LiveJournal user but want to post comments on friends with LiveJournal accounts. Click on “Login w/ Open ID” located in the same box as the username and password. Enter your Open ID in the slot in the form “yourname.yourblog.com.” Click “Login.”

  6. Step 6

Retrieve your username or password if you’ve forgotten them. Click the “Forgot your login?” button located in the login box in the upper right-hand corner. If you forgot your password, you can enter your username to retrieve your password. If you forgot your username, you can enter your email address and LiveJournal will send you your login information.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember, your username must contain only lowercase letters, only digits 0-9 and cannot contain any spaces (but it can contain underscores).
  • Keep the email address that you provided to set up your LiveJournal account active so if you forget your username or password you can have them sent to you.
  • Read the terms of service and privacy policy materials carefully before you complete the setup of your account.
  • Be careful about what you put in your LiveJournal entries, as the site records items from your browser, including your IP address and requested Web sites.
