How to Know the Best Mascara Color for Your Skin Type

When it comes to mascara, the choices in color are extremely limited, unless you count novelty colors like blue and red. To get the effect you want, you may need to use sheer, black or a different shade of mascara, however one color usually fits all your needs. Matching things like skin tone is not as important as making sure your mascara complements your hair and eye colors.

1. Check your skin and hair colors in a mirror to decide on a color. Blondes should only use very dark mascara if they really want to make their eyes pop, like when they go out at night. A brown shade is better as it darkens the lashes without being too dark.

2. Check your makeup against the rest of your face once it's applied to ensure you have the effect you want. If you don't like the way it looks, your mascara may be too light or too dark.

• Apply mascara by holding the wand on the underside of your upper lashes and combing up in one sweeping motion. Go from the top down for your lower lashes, and be careful not to smudge the mascara onto your cheek.

• Don't ever share eye makeup like mascara, or you could wind up sharing diseases and germs as well. Being nice is not worth an infection.
