Lip liner is normally sold in pencil form, and is used to trace the lips to define their shape and make your lips really stand out in the best way possible. Lip liner can fix all kinds of problems from thin lips to a turned down mouth with just a few quick strokes of the pencil. When you're done, use a lipstick brush to blend your lipstick and liner together to make it look less like a defined outline.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Apply the lip liner by starting at the middle of your upper lip and curving toward the corner of your mouth.

  2. Step 2

Echo the curve at the other side, then trace along the outer edge of your bottom lip from edge to edge.

  3. Step 3

Apply your lipstick inside the lines.

  4. Step 4

Use a brush to gently brush from the edge of your lips inward to blend the liner and lipstick together and give you a more natural look.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a color just a few shades darker than your lipstick for the best effect, and make sure to blend them well so they look just right.
  • Don’t use harsh colors or deep contrasts between your lipstick and liner. The goal is actually to avoid looking like you are wearing lip liner.
