Exfoliation is a highly beneficial part of skin care that helps you remove dead skin cells, dirt, bacteria and other impurities to reveal healthy new cells and make your skin glow.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Moisturizer
  • Face wash
  • Exfoliating scrub for the face
  • Loofah or scrubbing sponge
  1. Step 1

Grab your exfoliation gear: face wash, a loofah or scrubbing sponge for the face, your facial exfoliation scrub and moisturizer.

  2. Step 2

Remove any makeup from your face.

  3. Step 3

Wash your face clean with warm water and facial wash.

  4. Step 4

Rinse your facial wash off completely.

  5. Step 5

Dry off excess moisture so your face isn’t dripping, but keep it relatively moist.

  6. Step 6

Apply a coin-sized amount of facial exfoliation scrub to your loofah or sponge.

  7. Step 7

Scrub your face gently in a circular motion with the loofah or sponge until your entire face is covered with the facial exfoliator, for about one to two minutes.

  8. Step 8

Let the exfoliator sit on your face for another one to two minutes.

  9. Step 9

Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry.

  10. Step 10

Apply a facial moisturizer to your face immediately after exfoliating to prevent excessive dryness.

Tips & Warnings
  • Exfoliate your face about twice a week. Avoid exfoliating daily or scrubbing for longer than five minutes as this can damage your skin.
  • Make sure you use a loofah or scrubbing sponge as well as an exfoliation scrub that are specifically designed for the face, not the body. Body exfoliation products are generally more abrasive and can be irritating or otherwise harmful to your face.
  • To exfoliate your body, you’ll need a larger body loofah and body exfoliation scrub and you’ll need to exfoliate in the shower.
  • Don’t scrub the skin directly under the eyes with an exfoliator.
  • Don’t use hot water before or after exfoliating, as hot water can harm delicate skin. Stick with lukewarm, tepid water.
